OAKLAND 12TH STREET PROJECT AT LAKE MERRITT
The 12th Street Reconstruction project involved reconfiguring the existing 12-lane expressway across the 12th Street dam into a six-lane, tree-lined boulevard. The project limits extend from Oak Street to the intersection of E. 18th Street and Lakeshore Avenue.
Over 79,000 cubic yards of cellular concrete was placed on either side of the new bridge on the 12th Street project by our company for the general contractor McGuire & Hester. Scheduled completion was reduced by six (6) months.
The 12th Street reconstruction project involved re-configuring the 12 lane expressway across the dam over compressible, unstable soils. 30 pcf cellular concrete was placed in cuts where heavy organic soil had been removed.
